Julio Jaramillo was born on October 1, 1935 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Jaramillo recorded thousands of songs with the music styles of boleros, valses, pasillos, tangos, and rancheras. He had a 20 year career. Julio learned to play the guitar at an early age and formed a trio. They recorded their first song for a political campaign. He spent very little of his career in Ecuador. Jaramillo expanded his career in Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, and Uruguay (Julio Jaramillo). He recorded with Daniel Santos, Olimpo Cardenas, Alci Acosta, and Pepe Jaramillo. Nuestro Juramento is his Jaramillo’s most famous song. In 1976 the Jaramillo family came back to Ecuador for an anniversary program. Two years later on February 9, 1978 he died in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Thousands of Ecuadorians showed up for a massive mourning (Julio Jaramillo). His birthday was named Dia del Pasillo Ecuatoriano. This day is a national holiday.
